Etsy Fee Calculator
Etsy's headline 6.5% is not what you pay. Add payment processing and one attributed Offsite Ads sale and the real rate can pass 25%. See every charge broken out below.
Every fee Etsy charges a seller in 2026
Etsy's fee stack is short but the charges land on different bases, which is why sellers are consistently surprised by the final number.
| Fee | Rate | Charged on |
|---|---|---|
| Listing fee | $0.20 | Each listing published, renewed or auto-renewed |
| Transaction fee | 6.5% | Item price + shipping + gift wrap |
| Payment processing (US) | 3% + $0.25 | Total order amount |
| Offsite Ads | 12–15% | Order total, only when an ad generates the sale (capped at $100) |
| Currency conversion | 2.5% | When listing currency differs from payout currency |
| Regulatory operating fee | 0.05% | Certain countries only |
| Etsy Plus (optional) | $10/mo | Subscription, includes 15 listing credits |
The three things that catch sellers out
One: the 6.5% is charged on shipping too. Charging $8 shipping does not shelter that $8. Etsy takes its commission on the whole order, so a "cheap item plus high shipping" strategy pays exactly the same commission as building shipping into the price.
Two: Offsite Ads can exceed the transaction fee itself. A 15% charge is more than double the 6.5% transaction fee. On the order in the calculator above, one attributed Offsite Ads sale takes Etsy's total cut from roughly 11% to roughly 26%. Sellers who price assuming no Offsite Ads are the ones who complain that Etsy "doesn't work" — the economics changed the moment an ad was attributed, and they never noticed.
Three: the $10,000 threshold is not optional. Cross $10,000 in rolling 365-day sales and Offsite Ads becomes mandatory at 12%, with no opt-out. Some sellers deliberately manage their volume to stay below the threshold; others accept the 12% as the cost of the traffic. Both are reasonable — guessing is not.
How Etsy compares with eBay and Amazon
On a $100 order, Etsy's standard fee stack runs to roughly $9.75 — noticeably cheaper than eBay's all-in 13.6% plus a per-order fee. But the comparison flips the moment Offsite Ads is involved: at 15%, that same order costs about $24.75, making Etsy the most expensive of the three. For handmade and vintage sellers, Etsy's built-in buyer demand usually justifies the cost; for resellers, eBay's flat fee is easier to plan around.
Shop around both before deciding where a product belongs — the platform's fee structure often matters more than its traffic.
Etsy fees — FAQ
How much does Etsy take per sale in 2026?
Etsy charges a $0.20 listing fee when you publish, a 6.5% transaction fee on the total order including shipping and gift wrap, and payment processing of about 3% plus $0.25 in the US. If an Offsite Ad generates the sale, a further 15% — or 12% for shops above $10,000 in rolling annual sales — is charged on the order.
What are Etsy Offsite Ads and can I turn them off?
Offsite Ads promote your listings on Google, Facebook, Instagram and Pinterest, and you pay only when one of those ads leads to a sale. Shops under $10,000 in the past 365 days pay 15% and can opt out. Shops at or above $10,000 are auto-enrolled at 12% and cannot opt out. The fee is capped at $100 per attributed order.
Does Etsy charge a fee on shipping?
Yes. The 6.5% transaction fee and any Offsite Ads fee are calculated on the total order amount, which includes the shipping you charge the buyer and any gift wrap charge. Separating shipping from the item price does not reduce the fee.
Is there a monthly fee to sell on Etsy?
No. Standard Etsy accounts have no monthly subscription. Etsy Plus is optional at $10 per month and includes 15 listing credits, but it is not required to sell.
Why is my Etsy payout lower than this calculator says?
Check three things: whether the sale was attributed to Offsite Ads, whether you were charged a currency conversion fee, and whether your payment processing rate matches your bank country. Also remember that Etsy deducts outstanding listing fees and any ads budget from the same payment account, so a payout can be smaller than the profit on a single order.
